Installing the Sound Driver after a Windows XP Reinstallation
If you install the sound driver after reinstalling Windows XP, the Add Hardware
Wizard (Modem Device) window may appear during the sound driver
installation. This happens because the High Definition Audio - KB888111
Hotfix, which has been installed on your system, has changed the settings to
search for both sound and modem devices. If you install the modem device, this
message will not appear. If necessary, install the modem device together.
The number of the High Definition Audio - KB888111 Hotfix may differ if you
have updated the Hotfix from the Microsoft web site.
Q2 Recording with the built-in microphone
A Since the default setting is set to recording with an external microphone, change
the settings to record using the built-in microphone.
1. Double-click the Volume icon in the Taskbar and click Options > Properties.
2. Click on Options >Properties.
3. Select SoundMAX HD Audio O in the Mixer Device field and select 'MIC' in
the Show the following volume control field.
4. When clicking the OK button, the MIC field appears in the Master Volume.
5. Select Options > Advanced Controls.
6. Unselect Advanced > Microphone Jack in the MIC field of the Master Volume
window and click on Close.
You can now record using the built-in microphone.
Q3 Using the additional functions when recording with the built-in microphone
A To record sound at the center of both microphones, set it up as follows.
1. Click on Start > Control Panel > Sound, Audio and Audio Devices >
SoundMAX.
2. In the Microphone Peripherals field, select 'Directional Beam' and click the
OK button.
