CellDEK® User Manual 119
This file is referred to as a .plist file and is used by the
CellDEK software to communicate with the device
directly.
When Apple launched support for the iPhone 3GS
and iPhone OS 3.0 in iTunes version 8.2 the storage
location for this .plist identifier file was changed. If a
newer iTunes version was used in conjunction with
CellDEK 1.14 the device would fail to connect and
result in an error message on connection: ‘cannot find
.plist’.
The CellDEK software version 1.15 was released
shortly afterwards and the new .plist storage location
was included to allow the support for any device
running the new iPhone software version 3.0
(including iPhone 3GS). Devices that had iPhone OS
version 3.x can only be extracted on CellDEK when
the iTunes version 8.2 - 9.x is installed.
Error message: Couldn’t find backup files
The latest release of iTunes (at the time of this
writing) is version 10.0.x. Further changes have been
made by Apple, in this version, which affects the
CellDEK apple device connection. When extracting
an iPhone on a CellDEK or CellDEK TEK running
version 1.16 (or below) in conjunction with iTunes
9.1.1 the error message ‘couldn’t find backup files’ will
be displayed shortly after connection.
Future releases from Apple
Every effort has been made to ensure that the
CellDEK software is compatible with the latest iPhone
version, although, it may be necessary to install future
updates of the iTunes software on CellDEK to enable
the support of any future iPhone OS releases.
If the user feels it absolutely necessary to install the
latest version of iTunes on CellDEK and problems are
encountered with the CellDEK functionality, the
software should be uninstalled and the supported
version can be reinstalled.
IMPORTANT NOTE: When uninstalling iTunes, the
Apple Mobile Device Support driver must also be
uninstalled separately.
Apple iPhone Pop-Up Window
When attaching an iPhone to the CellDEK, an Apple
iPhone pop-up window may appear. The pop-up
window asks you to “select the program to launch for
