CAPTURING DATA
CellDEK® User Manual 34
where Palm OS keeps data stored in RAM. The
data is kept in database format. These files can
contain user data.
Windows-based PDA’s need to have Active Sync
enabled before they can be set to Infrared
mode. Please refer to the “Connecting via
Infrared” section later in this chapter.
Blackberry devices can only connect via Cable.
Please refer to the “Cable Connection”
section later in this chapter.
NOTE: Blackberry devices that are password-
protected will need to be unlocked before data
can be extracted. Please refer to the
“Unlocking a Blackberry Device” section later
in this chapter.
Most PDA’s will need to connect to CellDEK via
Bluetooth instead of the other way around.
Please refer to the “Connecting via
Bluetooth” section later in this chapter.
Additional Cable Support for PDA’s:
A set of 5 new PDA cable tips and a USB cable
are available from:
http://www.gomadic.com/celldek.html
These tips will enable the User to connect to a
number of PDAs that are not supported by the
current CellDEK cables. However, it must be
noted that, although many of these PDAs are
already supported by CellDEK via Infrared, an
extraction using a cable will provide a faster
extraction. Appendix C lists the 150 PDAs that
are supported by these cable tips.
Each tip can be placed into the female
receptacle thus allowing a large range of tips to
be connected to the same USB cable.
